Not surprisingly, numerous other\u00a0Quick Service Restaurants<\/a>\u00a0(QSR)\u00a0dominate the list (25 out of 106 listings). Notably,\u00a0Chester’s\u00a0chicken,\u00a0Jimmy John’s Gourmet Sandwich Shops\u00a0and\u00a0Dunkin’ Donuts\u00a0made the top ten, while frozen yogurt<\/a>\u00a0continues it meteoric rise with\u00a0Menchie’s\u00a0(no. 17),\u00a0Orange Leaf\u00a0(no. 20), and\u00a0Red Mango\u00a0(no. 38) the fastest-spreading. In a similar icy vein,\u00a0Kona Ice\u00a0shaved ice trucks rolled in at no. 27.<\/p>\n

Other top-scoring taste-makers include\u00a0Firehouse Subs\u00a0(no. 21),\u00a0Papa John’s\u00a0Int’l Inc.\u00a0(no. 23),\u00a0Wingstop Restaurants\u00a0(chicken wings, no. 32),\u00a0Jersey Mike’s Subs\u00a0(no. 33) and\u00a0Denny’s Inc.\u00a0(no. 37).<\/p>\n

Entrepreneur ranked the companies based on growth in the number of open and operating U.S. and Canadian units from July 31, 2011-July 31, 2012. During that year, the 106 companies racked up “an impressive 9,945 new North American franchise units.”<\/p>\n
