Walmart Applies for Drone Delivery Sanctions Point of SaleMuch like Amazon, Walmart is seeking government exemption from current Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations.

The retailer previously tested drones use inside warehouse but hopes to facilitate operations with outside use. If sanctioned Walmart will test parking lot and home delivery. Drones will also be used as surveillance  of distribution centers and other buildings.

Earlier this year Amazon received sanctions for Amazon Prime Air.

The approval process usually takes about 120 days according to Michael Drobac, executive director of the small UAV coalition.

The company filings outlined the test program will use Chinese DJI drones and help create a more efficient distribution system.

China’s SZ DJI technology Co. has been around for the past nine years and since dominated the consumer drones with an estimated 70% of the market, according to some analysis.
