whole foods article @ Sintel SystemsAccording to the New York City Department of Consumer Affairs, Whole Foods Grocers is mislabeling pre-packaged foods.

Inspectors from consumer affairs say “this is the worst case of mislabeling they have seen in their careers.”

Approximately 89% of packages violated federal rules, which sanctions how much a package could deviate from the actual weight. Inspectors found nearly 80 types of pre-packaged products were not correctly weighed.

Overcharges ranged from 80 cents to $14.94. On average $20 vegetable platters were overpriced from $6.15. Other items included tenders with an average of $4.13 and berries with an average of $1.15.

The study showed many of the packages had the same weigh, which is virtually impossible.

Very few cases weighed less than the actual weight; thus, saving the customer money.

Whole Foods markets spoke out against allegations and would defend themselves to the full extent.
