Starbucks Opens First Express Unit

Dubbed an “espresso shot” by the coffee shop empire, Starbucks debuted their first express unit in New York City. The  538 square feet location is powered by mobile point of sale systems to ensure productivity.

Employees take order upon entrance and other various mPOS placed strategically across the small space.

The modern layout provides the impression of depth. Lined horizontal wood paneling display four menu boards tailored to New Yorker preferences. In a small space Starbucks aim was to leave a lot of bare simple features.

Starbucks earlier announced its 500 reserve bar location roll out. Five of which will all be in New York by the end of 2015.

The coffee shops objective is to provide customers with varying experiences. Its modern approach is conforming to our fast paced society. A quick stop and go concept.

The company has various mobile projects in the works, including mobile trucks, mobile payment, and drive-thrus.

Starbucks hopes expanding its 22,000 worldwide units to more than 30,000 within the next five years.
