Is PayPal’s Mobile Payment System a Good Thing?
Mobile Point of Sale Systems is all the rage. The newest company to join the race is PayPal.
PayPal is already well known for their mobile payment solutions for Smartphones. At the beginning of this year, they launched a mobile payment version for the iPad.
PayPal is targeting small businesses that do not already have an existing Point of Sale System. PayPal’s app allows you to scan an item’s barcode, make a wireless connection to a cash drawer and printer, as well as offering sales tracking with a “daily summary” report.
We at Sintel Systems have talked about the pros and cons of using an iPad Point of Sale System in previous blogs. Sintel’s tablet compatible POS system provides the flexibility of tablets with the robust feature set that only a full POS system can provide. Our systems give businesses the ability to connect tablets to their POS system. Retail and restaurant’s can then use tablets for their mobility and sleek look, yet still maintain the security, reporting, inventory tracking and other critical features that are part of a designated POS system. This is an important difference. In the event that a tablet is broken, stolen or misplaced, all of the important information is not lost.
Then there’s the issue of service. If your tablet or PayPal service is interrupted, would you trust their customer service to get you up and running…fast?
A mobile POS system may be useful for your business, but it cannot replace a standard Point of Sale system which along with many outstanding features, can be customized for your individual business. Make sure to do plenty of research on both sides of the argument before making any final decisions.
Sintel Systems is a quality provider of tailored Point of Sale systems across retail, restaurant and service industries, including frozen yogurt shops, pizzerias, sushi restaurants, cafés and retail stores.
