We learned of the program in a PostalNews.com post, “USPS testing mobile POS technology.”
Sintel is the only full-service, direct-to-user POS provider — no resellers, no middle man. From software development to franchise incubator to ongoing support, part of Sintel’s commitment to our customers and industry is to share information on how to achieve success. Whether you’re a first-time franchise hopeful, a small business owner or an established chain, it’s always smart to stay on top of information technology.
Here are some of the highlights of the PostalNews.com report.
The swipe and go system, based upon a modified iPod, a portable receipt printer and a postage printer, allows lobby assistants to do the following typical transactions:
•Scan and accept prepaid packages
•Scan package pickups as being delivered
•Sell stamps, ReadyPost and other retail products
•Retail associates may also use mPOS to sell Priority Mail flat-rate postage
Fifty USPO facilities participated in mPOS testing over the holiday season and processed more than 102,000 transactions using swiped credit cards and non-PIN debit cards. Customers were able to choose between a printed receipt or having one emailed to their personal email address.
Just as we share our vast point of sale (POS) experience and expertise with startup owners in order to help them make the best decisions from the very beginning, we at Sintel Systems are happy to share articles, advice and commentary about how technology is changing the retail landscape.
